I’m really impressed with the quality of these two tire repair tools. Made from cast aluminum, they feature set screws on both sides of the handle, securely holding the spiral probe and needle in place. I also own Safety Seal and Blackjack tools, which are top-tier in tire repair, and while this kit may not quite match that level of quality, it offers great value for the price. I needed it for a third vehicle and, given the positive reviews, decided to give it a shot. Overall, I’m very satisfied with its quality.
The only aspect I find questionable is the tire plugs. They seem a bit flimsy. I recommend buying a separate pack of 5 or 6 plugs from Safety Seal or Blackjack for better reliability. The case is excellent; after discarding the 30 or 40 plugs provided (who really repairs that many tires?), you’ll have ample space for a pair of pliers and a razor blade, making it a very functional kit.
Regarding the lubricant jar included, I’ve encountered some misleading instructions. First, ensure you can open it at home with your tools. The lid was incredibly tight, and I had to use two pairs of slip-jaw pliers to get it off—definitely not something you want to struggle with on the roadside. Just snug the lid back on after use, and you’ll be good to go.
For the actual repair, dip the end of the spiral probe into the lubricant for a small amount on the tip. Use pliers to pull out the screw or nail, then insert the probe into the hole using a sawing motion to slightly enlarge it. Avoid putting lubricant on the tire plug itself, and you won’t need cement as long as you’re using quality plugs (hence my recommendation for Safety Seal or Blackjack).
Thread the plug halfway through the eye of the needle and insert it into the hole until the round disk touches the tire. While holding the disk down, slowly pull the handle up, which will release the plug into the hole, ideally sealing the leak. Cut the plug flush with the tread, and you’re finished!
Just a note: don’t believe anyone who claims this is a permanent fix. According to Michelin tire school, a plug installed this way is only a temporary solution to get you home. The tire must be removed from the rim for a patch/plug combo to be installed from the inside for a true permanent repair.

I purchased this kit a year ago when I got my Tesla, as it doesn’t come with runflats or a spare tire. A few weeks ago, I finally had to use it, and I’m so glad I had it on hand. Although there’s never a good time for a flat, I experienced a puncture that was losing air at about 1 PSI per mile. Once the low tire alert lit up, I managed to exit the freeway and pull into an empty parking lot. With no prior experience using the kit, my wife and I figured it out and followed the instructions. The patch has been holding up well, and I was able to inflate the tire to the recommended 42 PSI to drive home. The next day, I took it to America’s Tire, but they informed me they don’t service any patched tires that weren’t done by them, leaving us with no option but to buy a new tire if we want to use their services again. Despite that hiccup, this kit is fantastic—easy to use and effective. This kit, along with a compressor, will stay in our car for good.

I received this product today, and it seems to be well-made and a great value. Some users have mentioned a lack of instructions, but those are now included, which I have attached for reference. Please note that cement is not part of the kit; instead, a grease lubricant is provided to facilitate the insertion of the plugs.
Upon inspection, I found that the setscrews securing the tools to the handle were not as tight as they should be, so I used the included Allen wrench to tighten them up. If I manage to make just one repair with this kit, it will have paid for itself, but I anticipate using it multiple times. I’ll update this review as I put it to use.
Update 7-8-2020: I used the kit for the first time today to fix a leak caused by a small sheet metal screw in a large tire on my Kia Van. The screw, which had a 1/4″ hex head, created a small leak when it lodged itself into the tire. Removing it was straightforward since the hex head was still intact, leaving a tiny hole behind.
Having never performed this type of repair before—only watching gas station attendants—I found that the most challenging part was removing the rear wheel from the van. If it were a front wheel, I could have attempted the repair with the wheel still on the car, but that would have been too awkward for the rear. Given the small size of the hole, starting with the enclosed reamer proved difficult, even with the lubricant. The reamer has a smooth, non-aggressive cutting action, so I opted to first use a 3/16″ bit in a portable drill to enlarge and smooth the hole, which made the reaming much more manageable afterward.
Once the hole was open, it deflated quickly, so I had to work swiftly while keeping my finger over the hole. It’s essential to have the plug pre-installed in the insertion tool prior to starting. As a novice, I made the mistake of inserting the first plug too deeply, leaving insufficient material exposed. I ended up using a second plug, which I pressed into the tire, ensuring about 1/2″ was visible. I then trimmed the excess flush with a razor blade. The entire process was surprisingly easy. I positioned the retainer on the insertion tool over the plug to prevent it from being pulled out, although this turned out to be unnecessary. The lubricant provided is meant to aid in plug insertion.
After completing the repair, I inflated the tire to full pressure and checked for leaks with a soapy water solution. I’ll keep an eye on it over the next few days to ensure the seal holds.
Overall, I find the tools to be well-constructed and sturdy—not necessarily professional-grade, but certainly sufficient for a DIY mechanic. The T-handles on both tools are made of heavy cast metal and are unlikely to break unless misused. The reamer is quite robust, while the plug insertion tool feels a bit lighter. I did see a review where someone bent their insertion tool, but that likely resulted from not using the lubricant during installation or failing to adequately ream the hole.
Having already repaired one leak, I feel that I’ve gotten my money’s worth from this kit and still consider it a fantastic deal.

This kit is ideal for a quick, temporary repair. I do want to mention that it’s not DOT approved or recommended. However, it effectively seals minor tire punctures (just be sure to follow the instructions) and can help you get back on the road—provided you have a way to inflate the tire, as maintaining the proper tire pressure is essential!

Instead of rushing to a tire shop, I decided to order this product and received it the very next day. I chose this model specifically for its metal Tee handles, as I worried a plastic one might break and injure my hand.
I parked the car in the garage, lifted it enough to locate the screw, and lowered it slightly to keep the tire stable. I applied a bit of the provided lubricant to the reamer and made several firm strokes, leaving the reamer in place until the plug was lubricated and ready. The handy collar prevented the plug from going all the way through the tire, which was a clever feature. I then inserted the plug and pulled it through.
It was quick, straightforward, and effective! After reinflating the tire to the proper pressure, I took it for a test drive. I checked it with soapy water and found no leaks or bubbles—it’s still holding pressure perfectly. Even if I never need to use it again, the money I saved compared to a shop repair could have purchased at least two of these kits. I’m thoroughly impressed, and I believe you will be too.
