I used the Philips head for M.2 screws and the flathead for prying, but with only one size of Philips head, I often stripped screws by having to apply constant downforce to keep it from slipping. Given that I was frequently taking my laptop apart, especially as it was starting to fail, I finally made the leap to this toolset, and it has been a game changer.
The screwdriver, which was my main reason for buying this kit, is fantastic. It includes multiple bits of various types and sizes, with duplicates of the most common ones (like size 1 and 2 Philips heads). The free-rotating butt allows me to apply pressure easily while turning, and its size is perfect for laptop disassembly—small enough for quick one-handed spins but large enough to grip with both hands for speed. The grip feels solid, and the extendable feature, while I probably won’t use it, is a nice bonus.
The variety of additional tools included in the kit is a huge plus. The metal spudger is incredibly sturdy and thin enough to pry open components without damaging them—plus, it has a textured yet smooth grip, so I don’t have to worry about scratching plastic. The sharp crowbar-shaped spudgers have been especially useful for tight spaces, like under the RAM cover of Lenovo laptops. There’s also a handy brush for cleaning PC fans, a magnetizer/demagnetizer (which I used on my Swiss Army knife), and a magnetized card to keep screws organized during disassembly.
As long as the screwdriver holds up, I believe this kit will meet all my electronics disassembly needs for a long time, as well as handle general screwdriver tasks, thanks to the included common hex key sizes. The kit comes in a nice woven fabric case that is surprisingly compact given all it contains.
Overall, I’m thoroughly impressed with this kit and very happy with my purchase, especially considering it was under $30.
